Lewis Anderson attended the Kansas City Art Institute in the 1930s and was a student of Wallace Rosenbauer, Thomas Hart Benton and John Douglas Patrick, among others. His artistic mediums included easel painting and sculpting. He participated in many exhibitions, including two at the Midwestern Artists' Exhibition in 1937 and 1939, as well as the Iowa Art Salon in 1937, where his sculpture won first place. His artwork was also in the Association of American Artists exhibition, Pirates Alley Art Shop exhibition, and many other exhibitions in New York, including the World's Fair exhibition in New York City in 1939. Lewis Anderson served as a United States land appraiser between 1928-33 and did freelance work. He died on June 17, 1969, in Missouri.
