John N. McBride

John N. McBride was born on December 8, 1923, in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI). He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

John married Marcella Lee Ludden on September 23, 1949. She was also an artist, and they exhibited their work together in many exhibitions. Both artists painted rural landscapes and street scenes. John and Marcella were members of the Saturday Sketch class at KCAI in the late 1940s. This class took excursions to the nearby towns of Westphalia and Lexington, Missouri, to paint landscapes. 

John was a graphics illustrator for the U.S. Air Force for twenty-seven years until his retirement in 1977. During the 1950s, he taught a class in oil and watercolor painting at the Kansas City Y.W.C.A. He did freelance commercial art as well.

John N. McBride died on December 9, 1986.
