Loren Sturdevant Mills was born on January 8, 1915. He studied art at the Minneapolis School of Art, the Kansas City Art Institute and the University of Nebraska.
He was an assistant instructor of sculpture and ceramics at the Kansas City Art Institute from 1938 to 1940.
Later in the 1940s, Mills moved to Nebraska. There he completed medical displays for the College of Dentistry, the Division of Cancer Foundation, at the University of Nebraska.
Mills may have gone by the nickname “Sturdy”.
