Willie Alberta Sheets Wells was an artist who was known for her oil paintings.
Wells started her artistic career in Texas, where she taught at the College of Industrial Arts, now known as Texas Woman’s University, in Denton. In 1927, she moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she became involved in the local arts scene as a member, and then treasurer in 1929, of the Ozarks Artists Association. Sheets Wells also exhibited regionally, winning awards at the Missouri State Fair for advertising art in 1946 and for magazine/book illustration in 1948.
